What is nuru massage?
Nuru massage is a body-to-body massage defined by nuru gel — a very slippery gel that allows continuous glide on the skin. It is not, by itself, sex. At CASA ÉLAN it is a professional, women-only service, with boundaries agreed beforehand, at home or in a hotel in Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.
If you searched “what is nuru massage”, you have probably seen wildly different descriptions. This article explains the technique plainly, what to expect the first time, and how it differs from tantric and sensual massage.
Where nuru comes from
Nuru started in Japan as a massage with a gel traditionally linked to seaweed (nori) — hence the name. The core point is not a “level” of massage — it is the material: the gel creates a glide you cannot get with ordinary oil. That is why body-to-body contact is part of the technical definition, not a slogan.
At CASA ÉLAN we describe the technique honestly and without explicit language. Hygiene, consent and areas to avoid are clear before the session. If close body contact does not feel right for you, say so: other options (relaxing, therapeutic, tantric, sensual) may suit you better.
What is nuru gel?
Nuru gel is a dense, highly lubricating gel made for gliding. It is usually clear or slightly opaque, and rinses with water. We use enough for continuous movement without strain.
Before the session:
- mention allergies or sensitive skin;
- ask for unscented if you prefer;
- have clean towels and, if possible, a shower before or after (we agree what is practical in your space).
You do not need to buy gel. We bring session essentials. We do not bring a massage table; the session adapts to a bed, mattress or stable surface you have, with towels.
Is nuru the same as “body-to-body”?
Almost: nuru is a type of body-to-body massage defined by the gel. Body-to-body is the wider category; nuru is the slippery-gel version. Other places use oil and call it body-to-body without it being nuru. When unsure, ask what will be used and what contact is included.

Is nuru massage sexual?
Not in CASA ÉLAN’s framework. It is professional massage with body contact and gel, not intercourse and not a sexual service. There can be a strong sensory side — gel and glide are noticeable — which is why the prior conversation matters even more.
Boundaries:
- women only;
- consent and areas to avoid;
- right to stop at any time;
- requests outside the massage are not part of the service.
If you want something else, tell us. We prefer a clear no to a booking with the wrong expectations. More on the nuru massage page and the FAQ.
What to expect the first time
- Conversation — type of contact, length, pressure, allergies, what to avoid.
- Space — home or hotel; towels; comfortable temperature.
- Session — gel, glide, pace agreed with you.
- End — time to rinse and dress without rush.
Lengths: 30 minutes (€30) or 1 hour (€50). Many women prefer 1 hour for a first nuru, so it does not feel rushed. See Pricing.
How it differs from tantric and sensual
| Nuru | Tantric | Sensual | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Material | Very slippery gel | Oil / dry touch as agreed | Oil, soft touch |
| Contact | Body-to-body (with limits) | Hand-led touch, slow pace | Soft touch, senses focus |
| Typical feel | Continuous glide | Presence and breath | Softness and atmosphere |
None is “more advanced” than another. They are different styles. For a first visit, if you are unsure, relaxing massage remains the simplest entry point.

FAQ
Do I need a special shower?
A simple shower before or after helps with the gel. We agree what is realistic in your space (home or hotel).
Do you bring a massage table?
No. We adapt to the space available, with towels.
Can I choose only certain areas?
Yes. Areas to work and to avoid are agreed with you beforehand.
Is it women only?
Yes. CASA ÉLAN serves women only.
How much does it cost?
€30 / 30 min and €50 / 1 h for listed types. Confirm the total when you book.
Hygiene and mutual respect
Nuru asks for simple hygiene and mutual respect. A shower when the space allows, clean towels, and honesty about sensitive skin or recent cuts. If you have an active irritation, it may be better to postpone. We also cancel if hygiene or safety conditions are not met — that is what the prior conversation is for.
Body-to-body contact is never “everything allowed”. It is what was agreed. If midway you want less contact or to stop the gel on an area, say so. The right to change your mind is part of ongoing consent.
First time: nerves are normal
Many women arrive at a first nuru curious and a little nervous. That is expected. A good session starts slowly, confirms the pace, and does not treat curiosity as pressure to “go further”. If you prefer to start with sensual or tantric and only later try nuru, say so — there is no required order.

Closing
Nuru massage, in short, is gel glide and body-to-body contact — professional, with boundaries, and without confusing technique with sex. If you want to know whether it suits you, ask plainly before booking.
